Rejoice in the Lord Always

When things turn out in ways you had not expected, do you rejoice? When suffering happens, do you rejoice? When you don’t understand why, do you rejoice? My guess is no, you don’t. In fact, there are some who may even blame God or turn away from Him when this occurs. Their belief is that if God allowed that, why would anyone want to follow Him? The truth is that God allows everything that happens on earth or He is not God. But, just because He allowed it, does not mean He caused it to happen. We must understand that God knows beginning to end of all matters and just because we do not understand the reasons why He allows them, He does and He can turn the worst things imaginable into something good. Our part is to trust the Creator of all, regardless if we understand or not. Looking at the story of Joseph starting in Genesis 37 when his brothers became jealous and sold him into slavery proves just this. Although Joseph did not understand what had to be a horrible time for him, God did and eventually so did Joseph because he tells his brothers years later, ‘What you intended for evil, God used for good for the saving of many lives’. You see, Joseph did not become bitter, but God’s favor was on him and he was eventually promoted to 2nd in command in Egypt. So, when a famine came upon the land, Joseph had managed well and had plenty of food; enough so that when his brothers came looking for food, Joseph was able to save them from starving. We must also understand that the law of sowing and reaping has been put in place by God so even if God wanted to stop something, His hands are tied. This law of sowing and reaping has no time frame of when to take place meaning we may not reap things right away or we may, but rest assured, we will. I cannot pretend to know all the reasons why God does things the way He does at times, but I do know His ways are best and He does everything for my good. When I get to the place of being able to praise and thank Him in times of distress, I will have peace like no other person can. I can leave things in His capable hands, casting all my cares upon Him for He cares for me and the stress of trying to hold on to or fix the problem disappears. I was never meant to handle those things. Our purpose here on Earth is to become like Him; so I must ask myself when uncomfortable situations arise, ‘What is God trying to show me in this?’ I must seek Him and He tells us all when we seek Him with all our heart, He will be found. Knowing that I am to become more like Him may show me something about me that needs tweaked thus the reason to rejoice. Whether or not He let’s me in on the why is up to Him and I should rejoice regardless of Him revealing the answer to me or not. I believe God always has my best at heart and in believing this, I have to trust Him whether I consider it a good thing or bad thing. Am I running on blind faith when this happens? I don’t think so because He has proven Himself trustworthy countless times before. So, next time you happen upon a bad time, stop and take note. Are your emotions getting in the way? If so, reign the emotion in and remembering past times when God has been faithful, let go of your control. Take a deep breath remembering He knows all things and controls all things and begin rejoicing in the Lord. God bless you.
