If only I had a better upbringing….
If only I were prettier….
If only I had a better job….
If only I had more money….
If only I had married so & so…
The if onlys go on and on. Do you know what if onlys are? Excuses and nothing more. When we cannot admit our wrong choices or we cannot make the best of our situations, we begin to look for blame and an if only puts the blame away from us and places it somewhere else. But, doing this doesn’t lift the consequences; it just prolongs them. We wallow in self pity and expect others to lift us out of something we created. Sure, bad things can happen to good people, but good people look for a way out without blaming others.
We all have things happen in life that may not be our fault, but those that overcome make the best of those situations and wallowing in self pity is never an option.
You cannot live a productive life when you travel two paths at one time. The what ifs and if onlys keep your mind divided, constantly going back and forth between two paths, never giving 100% to one.
