God’s Forgiveness

Have you ever wondered how many times God will continue to forgive you? Have you ever thought that maybe you have worn God out with your sins, especially those that you seem to repeat over and over? Thought possibly you had been turned over to a reprobate mind and no longer had an invitation to spend eternity with God? I know I have thought these very things more than once. But, as I was reading II Chronicles 7, I had a revelation of God’s forgiveness. You see, in this chapter, King Solomon has built a temple or house for God to dwell. He planned weeks of feasts and all Israel joined in the celebrations with him. Now, we know that God cannot be contained in a house, but what was being asked of God by Solomon was for God to dwell with them and the temple or house was where God showed up and did amazing things in Israel’s sight. God appeared to Solomon one night and told him that He had heard his prayer and would accept his plea and then God gave him instructions to follow When they sinned. God said when they would sin they were to turn toward the temple ( as we turn toward God ), humble themselves, seek His face, and turn away from the sin ( or wicked ways ). Then, if they did this that He would hear their pleas from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land. He said He would do this every time, even when in the midst of discipline ( pestilence, famine, whatever may be happening ).

God does the same with us. Only now, since Christ came and died for us, we are the temple or house God dwells in, but because God cannot dwell with evil or sin, when we do sin we have the same promise that Israel had. If my people (we), who are called by My Name (will turn toward Him), will humble themselves (us), seek My face (listen for direction from God), turn from their wicked ways (turn away from our sin); then, I will hear from heaven (God will listen to your plea), forgive your sin and heal your land. II Chronicles 7:14

The healing of your land means healing from any thing that the sin may have caused. He will do the healing His way, not necessarily your way. But, if you have godly sorrow over the sin, you won't care how He heals, just thank You, Lord for

Nothing has changed in how God forgives us. He doesn’t say how many times He will forgive us, then it’s over. He simply lays out what we are to do when we sin. Notice I said when, not if because we will sin, but God made a way through Jesus dying for us to bring us home when we do. So, Rest assured brothers and sisters, you have not used all God’s grace because He is grace and He will keep extending it until we go to be with Him.

Please know that I do not believe we can live anyway we want and just throw a few words up for forgiveness from God. However, I do believe God knows our hearts and acts accordingly. We can fool some of the people some of the time, but never can we fool God any of the time. So, lift those eyes toward God, humble yourselves, seek His face and turn from your sin and see what God does. As many times as you need to do this, do it and I pray that godly sorrow happens in your heart. When it does, I’m betting you never return to that sin again. God bless you, brothers, sisters, friends. I love you as God asks me to, as myself.
