Sometimes when trying to hear from God about a big decision, you just have to take the leap. How do you decide if God is saying yes, no, or wait? I have heard that if you hear nothing, then wait. I have also heard, just take a faith leap. Some decisions require a bit more than either of the two. Let me give you an example. About 3 weeks ago, I began asking God about taking a newborn in. She was taken by DHR from a distant cousin and needs placement. My husband & I are in our late 50’s and life is good. No schedules, no being responsible for another person, and anytime we feel like it, we can get up and go. Life will change if we make the decision to take this child and I’m not sure I want life to change. Yet, I feel we can pour into a child’s life with a lot more patience at our age. So many cons and few pros when weighing the difference. I have often wondered why youth has energy for a child, but age has wisdom. Where is the balance? I am not sure there is one. Maybe we are to just take what is handed us and do the best we can. Needless to say, this gives me little comfort in making such a life changing decision. I wrote yesterday the post ‘Blessings & Sacrifices’ in lieu of this decision. I believe God is leading me to do this, but without my husband being on board, I cannot. He is the head and thus far he is not with it. So, what do you do? Do I do what I believe God is leading me to do or submit to my husband’s authority? Well, I do know this: God never contradicts Himself. He will not ask me to do something that goes against His Word. His Word tells me, the wife, to submit to my husband. So, maybe I heard Him wrong. I asked the Lord to change my husband’s mind if I am to do this. So, I wait to see what happens. My answer is received and I wait to see what I should do. Sometimes, we just need to look a little closer to see what the Spirit is saying.
So, today brothers and sisters, look deeper. Be blessed.
