Blueprints of a Life:

In a world of always wanting to be someone other than yourself, my freeway billboard would scream, ‘JUST BE YOU’! We strive so hard at times to be anyone other than who we are that in the process we forget who we are and that can be a dangerous thing. A lot like amnesia you forget who you are and sometimes finding that person again is futile. Where do you go? Who do you ask? What can you do? Why was I not content with me? All these questions and more come rushing through your mind.

You realize that everyone struggles. You see that no one is happy all the time. You just have not walked in their shoes, but now that you have, you see that only they were equipped to walk that road. You’re equipped to walk a very different road. You cannot navigate a road with blueprints of another road. That would be a disaster and so it is with navigating another’s life with blueprints drawn for only your life. It does not work.

The truth is we do not have to find out the hard way and lose sight of who we are. If in our youth we take the wisdom offered by those that have traveled this life and understand more than we do then a lot of heartbreak would cease to exist. If we learned how much God loves us and how special we are to Him and be thankful for all He has done for us, then we would stop striving to be someone else. We could see our gifts and use them accordingly knowing that our gifts are just as important as the next ones. Maybe more. We would all work together building a wonderful life for all around us. No envy, no jealously, no covetousness, no greed, no hate. Just love and acceptance of who we are and who they are around us. And, the world would be a better place by just being you.
