To Die or Not to Die:

My thoughts on living a very long life are simple. We will live forever whether we believe this or not. The better question would be, ‘Where will you spend eternity?’

I am guessing that the question need be answered based on living a very long life here on earth and I want to address that question.

The quality of life is behind my answer. To live yet suffer continuously or to have someone take care of you is not living. So, in that state where there is no chance of recovering I say ‘cut it short’. I do not want to be a burden on anyone and definitely don’t like suffering.

But, there is another view if the quality of life is good and that one gets a ‘thumbs up’. If we honor our mother and father as the Word says, God promises long life. So, we do get a choice of living long lives.

Living a long life gives you the time to do all on your bucket list. It gives you time to figure out your work here on earth. It gives you time to repair broken relationships that you may have caused. It gives you time to stand up for a good cause. It gives you time to enjoy your twilight years because we all know those years are few without working and seems to continue to shorten each year. It gives you time to say thank you to those wise people in your youth and time to commit to following that wisdom. In our youth, we just cannot imagine anyone with more wisdom than ourselves. Thus a road is usually traveled that would have been better closed and a trip around the mountain, so to speak is employed. A long quality life is wonderful so you have time to enjoy and watch the generation you birthed come into adulthood.

I will say this however; a long life without wisdom and boundaries could do more harm than good for both the older and others. So, a long quality life with boundaries and wise thinking is necessary as well.

I guess it is good that we don’t know how long our life here will be because most times it would probably give rise to mayhem and long mayhem thinking that we still have so much time left to get it right whatever right may be for you.

I would like to add one thing concerning assisted suicide or putting a person down when they are ill and concerning capital punishment. I do not agree with this concepts on any level. Only God has the right to give and take life. When we get to the point where we can give life, then my view may change because only the creator of something has the right to decide to stop it. I understand that it may look as if there is no hope in continuing on, but as long as you have a breath in your body, there is hope. God is the miracle worker and He is quite good at performing miracles. Also, with capital punishment I do not back. Sone may question how I would feel if someone I love got raped and murdered especially a child. I can assure you that I would want them dead and would like to be the one to administer the killing, but am I right? No, I am not. Again, only God has that right. So, yes my feelings are the same as yours, but feelings are not always right so my answer remains the same.

To live or not to live is a fairly straightforward answer depending on the circumstances. What about you?
