My day began with sleeping in, but not too long because you see I had so much to fit into this most amazing day.
After getting out of bed, I stroll to the kitchen to have the best cup of coffee ever. Sitting down with my devotion books near by, I opened the first and began to read. This led me into prayer because my day must begin with quiet time with my God if I am to have a most wonderful day.
Later on I decide that I will visit some friends that always seem to get a laugh out of me. Laughing makes my days so much better by lifting my spirit in some strange way. It is as they say ‘good for the soul’.
Getting dressed I jump into my car for some much needed (haha) window shopping. I love to spend money, a little too much most times. I browse through the store and pick up a few things not really needed, but hey, why not? I see a new restaurant that serves my favorite food – seafood. If that weren’t enough, it is a buffet. My palette gets satisfied as well as my stomach, almost too much but hey, it’s my most amazing day so I go with it.
Beginning to yawn as a full stomach always seems to cause, I decide to head home for an afternoon nap. I have plans to go out later with my BFF, my husband, so a nap would definitely be in order.
As I shift into reverse, something catches my eye. I notice a family of four sitting on the curb. They look sad and down all clasping small backpacks close to them. I drive over and lower my window asking if they are OK. The mother walks over with tears in her eyes and relays a story that would break a strong man’s heart. She tells me of the struggle her family is in with being homeless at the top of the list. They have been sleeping under the bridge which she says provides shelter of some sort, but with a small baby this cannot be ideal. She has small children who just finished lunch thanks to a man who made sure they got fed. Her struggles go on until tears flow from my eyes and I’m praying the Lord show me what to do.
I had been saving for a more dependable car, but at that very moment a car would have to wait. I tell her to stay right where she is and I race to the bank to withdraw my small savings. When I return to the curb, the lady walks over and I hand her my savings for her and her family. I tell her to climb in and we drive to a hotel. They wait in the car as I go inside the lobby. I explain to the clerk the situation at hand and I’m able to rent them a room at a fantastic rate.
The family & I go up to the room and I leave her my number if she should need anything. The tears flow freely from both of our eyes as she embraces me closely she can’t seem to speak. She pulls a small Bible from a backpack she carries and tells me how God has just answered her prayers.
We hug once again as I leave the hotel promising to stay in touch no matter what. To some this day may not seem so amazing, but I can assure you to me it was the best. When another’s need can be met by me, the blessing that follows is always mine.
