Fall is the best time of the year. The feeling, the smell, the activities and so much more. Fall is weather somewhere between 65 and 75. Perfect!!
Fall has a certain smell to it. Crisp, chill and fun are words I will use to describe the smell. Football season is in full force and in small towns, Friday nights are spent at the football field. It is exciting. It is cozy. It is the best time of year. The halftime shows with the local bands bring another level to this time. They get the crowd going, cheering and sometimes cursing ( not intended ). Concession stand foods with smoked hot dogs, hamburgers, cold drinks, hot cocoa if preferred and all the usual foods make these events a must see. Not healthy I know, but for a couple months of the year just go with it and enjoy.
Another fall favorite is the clothes. Fall clothes are by far my favorites. The sweaters, jeans, boots, coats and don’t forget the blanket to wrap up with on Friday nights. The problem is in Alabama, fall doesn’t last long if at all. As time goes on it seems fall is shorter and shorter which I hate. I prefer fall over summer anytime.
There isn’t many holidays during fall except Halloween which as I get older that is just fine with me. Holidays are not what they are cracked up to be, at least not anymore. Seems like most are about what to get instead of the true reasons for them. Just me, maybe, but that is how it seems nowadays. So, with no major holidays in fall, football will remain at the top. At least in Alabama.
If I had my wish, Fall would be year long. But, possibly if this were the case, I might decide on another season as favorite. Too much of a good thing can be dangerous and definitely would make the excitement of fall coming not as exciting.
