The Namesake

Have you ever wondered and hoped that there are good qualities inside of you? Qualities that have helped others and those people remember? I’m sure we all have and probably without you even realizing it you have done just that. Those things that you thought were nothing, that you did from your heart without expecting anything in return are the very things that people remember.

What would you like others to remember you by? You probably will never know who and how you helped because people just don’t tell those people how that one small thing meant so much, but we should let others know. Who knows, maybe you just thanking that person and letting them know how their kindness or wisdom or whatever it might have been touched you and made a difference could possibly make a difference in their life just by acknowledging their actions.

I would hope that when all is said and done that the words kind, helpful, being a friend, loving, wise, and giving are words people use when thinking of me. I hope that I made a difference in at least one person’s life while journeying my path, would love to have done so in many others lives, but I will take just one if need be.

We never know how acts done from the heart with absolutely no expectations expected can turn a person’s situation around for the good. I loved when the ‘Pass it Forward’ cause came about where one act of kindness was given to someone in hopes they would pass it to someone else, preferably a stranger, but another person none the less. This was to start a cycle of doing kind things for another. It could be anything, words, a smile, a hug, or buying someone in front of you or behind you a coffee or meal if possible. The acts done did not have to consist of money, but they could if possible. Money is not the answer to all things. In fact, money can sometimes make things worse, but just go with your heart when passing kindness forward.

I believe the greatest compliment would be to name a child after me. It says that the hope is for the child to inherit the qualities that the parent sees in me. The honor that this bestows is breathtaking and nothing compares to this honor. Nevertheless this probably won’t happen so just knowing that I made a difference somehow somewhere along the way will suffice. Tell someone today how an act of kindness or words given to you by them helped you in some special way.
