The Forgotten List:

As I’ve made mention of before, I am a list maker. My lists are things that need attended to so that I may live a more sustainable life. Sustainable? Things able to be maintained at a certain rate or level.

The problem is most my lists usually get carried over to the next day, then the next day and the next with little getting accomplished. You cannot sustain something when nothing is getting done.

So, what causes this lackadasical attitude? My mindset causes this and instead of fighting it and pushing through, I allow it to stay. With words such as, ‘I will get to it tomorrow’ or ‘It can wait’, I allow a spirit of laziness to set in and I practice the opposite of what I desire in my life. If not careful, this thinking can spiral out of control and lead me to a place I rather not be in.

Anger, self pity, lashing out at others become constant companions of mine and attitudes of resentment are hurled at those who have done nothing wrong.

Daily writing prompt
Are there things you try to practice daily to live a more sustainable lifestyle?

To live a lifestyle with purpose, order and joy, I must put to rest these things that have invaded my thinking. I have to find the road leading out of this pit and into my destiny of hope. The road won’t be easily traveled, but neither is continuing on this road of futility.

Practice what you preach some say and this is easy to do unless you have veered to far off the path, but good things come to those who desire and try to stay the course of living a full and beneficial life. Easy? No. Attainable? Absolutely. One step at a time until you are standing at the place where you desire. The sky looks clearer, the sun brighter and there you stand exactly where you are supposed to be.

Keep traveling the right direction – you will get there, bumps and all, but there.
