As the temperatures climb toward 100 and the humidity reaching all time highs, I crave something cold and soft with all kinds of flavors to choose from sliding down my throat. The temp stays the same, humidity, too, but this cold, creamy, delicious treat changes my perspective. If only for a moment, it’s worth it in conditions this hot & humid.
Imagine a steaming hot day, sweat pouring down your face, clothes clinging to your body from perspiration, and a parched mouth and throat thrown in for good measure. A person can only take off so much clothing without being charged with indecent exposure so what’s one to do?
Reach for that cup of homemade ice cream. Cold, soft, creamy and full of flavor. You pick the flavor. Peach, Grape, Orange, Strawberry, Pineapple are just a few to pick from. All you need is a 2 liter bottle of flavored soda, 2 cans of Eagle Brand Condensed Milk, some heavy whipping cream and there you have it, a treat so wonderful you wonder why you haven’t stumbled onto this before. Oh, yeah, you will need an electric ice cream machine, rock salt, and ice to complete the recipe. But, I’m telling you it is absolutely worth it.
Next time you find yourself in conditions stated above, remember the solution. Hey, even if conditions are not like above, this is a treat anytime of the year. Homemade Ice Cream, a favorite for all.
