Writing is Therapy

Daily writing prompt
What do you enjoy most about writing?

People go to counselors at times. People attend support groups at times. People visit psychiatrists at times. All for emotional and mental therapy.

I write.

For myself, writing is therapy. When I write, I release pent up emotions that I’m not even aware of at times. The words flow onto the screen coming from a place inside where memories lie, where pent up emotions lie, where stress lives at times. As the words make their way onto the screen I feel a release. Without even realizing the issues inside that need to be released; as I begin to write the release takes place. Things that were keeping me from moving forward are now dealt with and released. Questions that I pondered suddenly have answers. We are our best therapist. In laying things out we sometimes get the answers we seek.

This release is amazing. Suddenly, the world seems brighter. My mind seems clearer. My future seems attainable. All from writing. I tell people all the time to begin Journaling daily and watch how quick circumstances change. The actual problem may not be different, but how you view it changes which makes the issue seem less intimidating and the problem fixable. All from taking a few minutes a day to write down your feelings and thoughts.

So, for a lot less expensive way to seek answers, try Journaling. You may even find you have a knack for writing posts, ie blogging. From there, maybe writing a selection of short stories. Then, maybe writing a novel. Then, more novels. The possibilities are endless.
