We Are All Schizophrenic

It’s funny how we label people for things we probably do as well. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that displays symptoms of hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech and behavior, lack of emotional expression and difficulty with motivation and social interaction.

If you will think about these symptoms for a minute, I believe you will find that you also have experienced some of them. Does that mean you are Schizophrenic? Highly unlikely. You just had a bad day. We all do at times.

This is what I believe could be true. Those that have been labeled as Schizophrenic will start down a dark path of identifying with it and in so doing will find that they have given up on life being anything other than a jumbled mess and sink deeper into it’s clutches. Hope is lost.

I do not mean to discount cases of severe affliction, but I do want to try and relieve self brought on one’s. There are lots of things that could bring on symptoms such as stress, control, self-hatred, jealousy and many more, but these can be eliminated from our lives if we just let some things go. Stop taking on the world. Stop trying to make every one like you. Stop hating yourself, look for the beauty underneath. Stop hating on others trying desperately to make them fall just because you don’t have what they have. You have something different that is just as beautiful and fulfilling as what they have so find it. Spend time looking inside instead of looking through others. Nurture those things you find and they will bloom.

Remember every day offers something new. Regardless if the feelings are not that comfortable, they are training you to be you. Then, some days will be out of this world bringing joy, peace, contentment and more.

Are you motivated every day? Most days? No, I doubt it, but lack of motivation is a poor excuse to label someone Schizophrenic. Are you emotionally on top every day? Most days? No, again I doubt it, but having a few days of feeling down and detached is a long way from being Schizophrenic. Do you ever fall for lies your head tells you? Probably so, but those are only feelings that come and go and untruths. Have you ever had just a strange day? Nothing you do is right. You say the wrong things, you can’t seem to get it together? Everything is mixed up? I’m sure you have, but most times this stems from lack of rest. Our bodies and minds just can’t connect and we are in a tailspin. But, it passes. Have you ever wanted to just stay under the covers in bed and not have to deal with anyone? Of course you have, but we don’t label this as having a problem socially interacting. No, we just need some down time, some quiet time, some healing time.

Do you get my point? If these point to a mental disorder we are all in trouble. Sometimes people just need a little TLC, not a diagnosis from me labeling them Schizophrenic.
