Beautiful

Daily writing prompt
What part of your routine do you always try to skip if you can?

WOW. I never thought I would write about my beauty regimen, but here I am and it is a little embarrassing. To all the women out there, you get this.

Beauty may come free to some, but not me. I must work at even being presentable. My husband says otherwise, but of course, he would. My regimen has always been long, but the older I get it seems the longer it is. I love smelling good. The smell sense is my favorite. I have so many parfums, full size and travel size which I keep handy in my handbag. I am constantly spraying, spritzing, dabbing and so on all through the day. Hey, if I cannot look great, at least I will smell great. I mix and match perfumes and they always come out smelling great.

But, my regimen goes like this. I lay out my clothes for after shower first. Then, I jump in the shower/tub to begin my 2, most times 3 hour job of trying to look beautiful. I must have either VS or B & B works body wash, a good shampoo and conditioner (you see, older hair seems to demand better stuff or maybe it is all in my head, but whichever, I make sure it is on hand), Alveena razor and shave gel, a scrubbie for exfoliating, and Oil of Olay soap for my face. Then, the work begins.

I wash my face first, then hair and while shaving my legs and underarms, the conditioner is working it’s magic. Afterwards, I exfoliate, then my feet get pedicured somewhat with my callous remover. Then, the conditioner is washed out of my hair and last but not least, I cleanse myself with my smell good body wash.

This is only the beginning of my regimen. I dry off, then apply smell good body cream to legs and feet. I spray myself down, hair included, with body spray, deodorant next, then my teeth get special treatment with my Crest special toothbrush. Then, gargling with mouthwash tops it off.

I spray one or many parfums on, then dress as usual before heading to my desk where I arch my eyebrows and get those strays out of there, then I begin styling my hair but before this I use my thermal heat protector on my hair to keep from burning it up. I begin with the blow dryer, then straightener. I spray a light hold hair spray on along with spritzing a parfum through it.

Not done quite yet. You see, beauty is a job. My last trek is facial creams. Not one, but no joke 11 different pigments and serums are applied to my face and neck. Only then am I finished with my daily regimen. Oh yes, one last thing. As I conclude my session I must what?

That’s right, spritz more of those wonderful parfums on. Let’s not forget the jewelry if only earrings. But, usually a ring or two as well.

Makeup? That is a whole other job. I tend to skip make-up preferring to go natural or more likely I just don’t have the time for it. On occasion if I wear make-up this requires another hour of time I just don’t have. So, make-up? Not for me.

My beauty regimen takes about 2 to 3 hours, really. I may not look much different, but I sure feel I do. At least, I smell wonderful and that alone counts for half of how you look. Right, women?

Oh yeah, what part of my regimen do I try and skip at times? Shaving my legs is the one I skip if need be. But, only every other day because my hair is thick and course and it will interfere with my sleep at times. When my legs rub together at night this can be painful. Ouch!!
