There are many figures I would like to meet to ask only one question which I will get to later, but these figures and many historical figures show and lived the very definition of a hypocrite. They spoke one way but behind closed doors they acted in another way and I would like to know why.
Some would probably say because it wasn’t acceptable yet they engaged so I cannot accept that excuse. Others may say because it would bring problems to themselves and/or their families. Another excuse not acceptable. Why would someone engage in things that could bring problems to others just to satisfy their own lusts? Then there are those that would say that everybody did it so why not? Excuse? I think not. Just someone excusing their own actions by others actions.
Then, there will be those that say possibly that it was wrong and they are hypocrites. Very few would fall into this category but the few that might I can accept their answers because it is truth and shows remorse of some kind. I’m sure there are many more excuses that would be made, but they are just that – excuses. An excuse is defined as an attempt to lessen the blame for an offense or fault. It seeks to justify what cannot be justified. So, any excuse made for an answer to my question holds no value whatsoever unless, of course, truth is spoken.
My question? As a white historical figure that had sexual relations or forced sexual relations with a black woman at times when races were divided, why did you engage whether secretly or openly? How did you live with yourself believing your actions were wrong? Or did you really believe it was wrong or did you just go along with the majority’s opinion? Is this the actions of a hypocrite or fearful coward or both? I wonder what answers would await me?
This is just one hypocritical scenario, we have words that differ from our actions still today. So, until we get to a place where words and actions line up this will always be a question worthy to give thought to.
