We all have a journey and a story to go with it. All have detours they have made for many different reasons. A journey is an act of traveling from one place to the next. A detour is a long route taken from original path to avoid something or to visit something along the way.
These detours or exits taken have different lengths of stay before jumping back on the highway to resume the journey. We all have a journey to make. Many have used wisdom on their journey while others were spontaneous and drifted like the shoreline. Going from one place to another with no clear path. Taking paths that fed the flesh instead of fueling the future. Yes, some have stayed a little too long on some of the exits. My question for those is, ‘Was it worth it?’ Did you learn something from it?’
If so, the exit was needed. Use what you learned to help another. Then, you will be able to say, ‘Something good came out of this’. If not and many of my detours were not worth it, just learn from it and don’t make the same mistake later and, also help another about to make the same mistake by telling them of your experience.
The destination is not as important as the journey. The journey is where you learn about the destination and learn about yourself and others and how to interact with others while helping others along the way if possible. The journey gets you ready for the destination. Completely fit and ready to enter in.
Many times people rush ahead to get to the destination completely missing out on the beauty of the journey. Once they arrive a stark realization emerges and they realize they are not ready yet to go in. Having to repeat things they missed on the journey can make many despondent.
So, my advice? Slow down. Stop and smell the roses. Find beauty in traveling. Enjoy the journey. Live with no regrets. See you on the flip side.
