My dream home. What would it be like? What would it look like? Where would it be located? When building or dreaming of the perfect home lots of things must be decided. The questions above are only the tip of the iceberg when making this happen. You get one chance usually and only one to make this reality so where do you start?
Most have a budget they must stick to because hey, all of us are not born with a silver spoon to be used. There are the colors, the material, the number of rooms, the location of this dream home and so so much more to be decided. No wonder it takes months to build this structure and this doesn’t count on the weather being great during construction. Add this factor in and it could be many months before completion.
We change our minds about things during construction for many reasons but at least one change is always made, probably more. Which side do we want morning sun to come through? Which side for evening sun? There are so many decisions to make during this time that I’m surprised any dream homes get finished and when or if they do, you need a vacation afterwards to unwind and release all the stress that comes with such an effort.
Truthfully after many years here on earth and watching people obsess on this venture I have a completely different outlook on my dream home. See what you think?
My dream home is not about colors, material, rooms, or location. My dream home can be a small shack as long as it is built to last. My home consists solely of peacefulness when there and wrapped in the feeling of safety where nothing touches you that is bad. My home would be so comfortable when there that you never want to leave. You know the feelings you had when with your grandparents? Just love, fun and security all wrapped up in one? That would be what my dream home would exude. All the time. Nothing can harm you. Nothing can touch you that is unpleasant. When you lie down at night that feeling of safety overtakes you and always sweet dreams follow.
You are awakened by the smell of bacon frying, maybe sausage too. Pancakes with butter and syrup await you. Coffee brewing slowly and if winter time has arrived then the fireplace crackles as logs are placed within. Warm and cozy screams to come join.
If summertime has arrived, the cool air from an open window flows over you. The smell of fresh, green cut grass fills your nostrils and excites you as you plan your day. There is nothing like the feel of this place. It is not about looks or colors or anything that must be built. It is everything about the feelings this place evokes when there. Feelings only a dream home can have. Making memories that will last a lifetime can only happen here and not one single memory has to do with the construction of this place.
So, my dream home is exactly that – a dream home. One that can only be dreamed about through feelings and experiences, not one made of brick and mortar only.
