Absolutely Nothing

People constantly critic themselves, always wishing they had more of this or less of that. I must admit I do the same, but, and this is a big ‘but’, I am going to stop doing that. I realize that God created me with everything I am. So, for me to complain is like spitting in His face.

When I was younger I would constantly critic myself. Nothing much about myself did I like. Someone was always prettier, smarter, more outgoing, wore better clothes, drove a better car, had a better job or husband or everything. You get the picture. I literally hated myself at times. What I have come to know as I’ve gotten older is most of the things I hated were things I could change. Like weight, clothes, jobs, even the way I looked or my intelligence could be changed somewhat by taking time to study for intelligence or the time to figure out what my strengths were in the looks department and enhance those features.

God made no mistake with what he created. He called it ‘very good’. For me to moan and groan about being made in God’s image is blasphemous. That is what we are, made in His image. Perfect. All of us. You and I. Perfect.

When you realize that God created perfection, you begin to walk a little different. Some call it a swag. You begin to talk a little different. Some call it arrogance, but it isn’t. You begin to look different. Even others say so. Why? When you are content with the way God made you it shows. Your countenance is better. So much that it affects the way you look. The way you are. And everyone takes notice.

So, when asked one thing I would change about myself if I could, the answer is a firm ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Let that be your answer as well. God makes no mistakes. You are perfect.

  1. Jamison, my friend it’s so reassuring that I am actually a ‘perfection’ as I am. But wouldn’t it have been perfection + if I were 3 inches taller? I’m pretty enough but boy, I would have been a stunner if I had longer legs. Currently groaning @ 5foot 1. My hubby assures me that I’m a ‘petite’ pretty. My WP blog has many of my petite pretty pix, if you want to challenge my hubby. Cheers.

    1. You are exactly as God created you to be and when He finished He said, ‘Very Good’. Stunners come in all shapes and sizes. You are just perfect.

Great post! I really appreciate the reminder to be content with the way God made us. It’s so easy to get caught up in comparing ourselves to others and wishing for something different. My question for you is, what steps did you take to shift your mindset from self-criticism to self-acceptance?

  3. Well, it was a process, a journey actually, one I’m still on. But, as I have gotten older I realize that we all have insecurities. Satan uses those insecurities against us. God created all of us and He does not half step. In fact, He commented afterwards that His creation (us) was very good. We have to be. I realized that the 2 voices I hear are fighting for my soul. Satan deceives while God speaks truth. I decided to listen to truth. Honestly, what people think of me doesn’t matter too much anymore. That game got old and tiring. I found myself living in bondage instead of freedom. So, I quote what God says about me out loud now when those feelings creep around my mind and I continue to do that until they leave. Always remember who you are and you are perfect. Thank you for your comment. Be blessed.
