SoulMates

Daily writing prompt
Do you believe in soulmates? Why or why not?

What exactly is a soul mate? My definition of a soul mate is someone who shares the same dreams that you do. Yet, a soul mate is much more than that. It is someone that will be there for you in good times and bad. Kind of like your other half.

A soulmate is someone you trust with all your secrets. Someone who doesn’t judge you, encourages you, cheers you on and will drop everything to be there if you need them. They are hard to find.

A soulmate also tells you when you are wrong and helps you correct mistakes made and helps get you on the right track again. The kicker is in order to have a soulmate and find them, you must be willing to accept correction. Someone who only makes you feel good and will not point out where you are wrong cannot be trusted to lift you up and get you to higher places.

We all need people in our lives to help us get where we need to be and those that do are true soulmates.

Soulmates come in many forms. Some are spouses, some are friends, some are bosses and many other forms. A physical relationship, meaning an intimate one, is not necessary to have a soulmate, but an intimate relationship must include a soulmate if it is to last.

I was blessed to have found my soulmate in my marriage and for almost 30 years I enjoyed this relationship. Unfortunately, he was taken way too soon and I don’t desire another one if that is even possible. How do you top the best? It can’t be done in my opinion. So, I live with the memories of the best time of my life – sharing life with my soulmate.
