I am by all accounts curious. Some call it ‘nosey’, some call it ‘hyper’, but I call it ‘intelligent’. If you don’t ask questions, how will you learn? Intelligent people or ‘curious’ people only become that way by seeking. Seeking answers. Seeking understanding. Seeking knowledge.
It is true I have always asked questions. Lots of them. I love learning and understanding why things are the way they are. I must have a large storage bin in my brain because I know something about a lot of things. Not the full extent of everything, but a little of most things. I can converse with just about anybody. While my end may be more questions I am continually storing information in that bin upstairs. I absolutely love it – always have.
What is a lifelong learner? What are the traits of such a person? A lifelong learner is someone who continuously pursues knowledge and skills throughout their lives. The traits of such a person are avid reading, curious with questions about everything, openness such as the ability to see things differently, humility by admitting mistakes and that you don’t know everything, embracing discomfort by seeking new challenges, and dedicating small chunks daily to exploring and reading.
Albert Einstein quoted, ‘Once you stop learning, you start dying.’ How true is this? I am a firm believer in this quote. A lifelong learner is never stagnant.
