The Blessing

Life can throw some curves at times, even straight out fouls if you will. These times can feel almost to much to bear. I know because it happened to me recently and I wasn’t sure I would make it through, but God.

I didn’t quite know how to deal with the situation and honestly wasn’t sure I wanted to. My wonderful husband and friend for almost 30 years passed suddenly. My world crashed and the pain was too much.

I survived. Although at times I didn’t care if I did or not. How does one get through something so heavy and painful as this? Let me share with you how.

You realize nothing will replace the loss and you are not trying to do this, but you allow yourself to feel all the emotions that come up. Be good to yourself.

You replay all the good times in your head as many times as you need. The not so good ones, too if needed. Take as long as you need.

Now, the most important part. You begin to thank God for the time you were given with this person. One year, ten years, 50 years. As many as you were given. You see, you didn’t have to be given any. You were blessed to have been a part of something so wonderful that few ever get to experience so thank Him. Keep thanking Him. He picked you to experience those amazing years with someone so wonderful that can never be replaced. He blessed you. This is a time of celebrating.
