Have you ever made the comment, ‘What I would give to (you fill in the blank)? I think we all have at one point in our lives. Whether it be something simple or something major depends on how we view the request, but today let’s look at the big stuff. The stuff that makes your heart hurt and your self hatred rise when you realize the importance of the choice made to have to say, ‘Oh, what I would give.’ But, it is too late and there is nothing you can give or do to reverse the outcome. Oh, but you would if possible.
Yes, it is now impossible once the decision is made and in the works, but a lesson has been learned, a hard one at that. So, what will you do and just being curious, what would you give if you could? Your firstborn? Your health? Your money, all of it, for the rest of your life? Probably not. That would just add insult to injury. So, what?
The only thing that makes sense is to not repeat this same mistake again. Learn from it. Grow from it. Help others from it. Take something bad and bring good from it. Make a mental note and practice it that from this day forward you will not take for granted the blessings you are given. You will be thankful, you will share the blessing if possible and you will first and foremost seek God for direction. I have found that when I don’t jump making decisions too quickly and give thought and prayer concerning it, that regrets don’t follow and deals with the devil are not made. The ‘what I would gives’ are not part of the problem.
Time has a way of teaching us lessons if only we will listen.
